Creating Covers & Templates

From reinventing the wheel to consistent quality

Challenge

An overwhelming number of art directors needed design support on book covers. Production designers had no prior guidelines in place for this type of creative need.

Solution

  • Co-design a large number of book covers in all book categories under senior designer's direction

  • Establish a workflow and write a standard operating procedure

  • Coach team on design standards and process

  • Oversee all future covers created by production designers

Outcome

We succeeded in efforts to support design department's needs and relieved them of excess work. We continued to fulfill business needs by designing cover mechanics and creating custom fitted templates for the company's first hardcover and boxset editions.
